Ready for Santa

I haven't in the past made any Christmas cards in the summer months because I prefer to 'enjoy' the current season / occasion before I move on to the next. However, this year I have found it easy to get caught up in new ideas and images and before I knew it, I was involved !

I have made my second Christmas card in a month and it's all because I can't resist Nikky's designs at Polka Doodles.I have made this card for my son's family (don't worry he doesn't look at my blog so won't see it) and have added 4 stocking to the fireplace as there are 4 of them in the family.

It is on an 8" x 8" base card and all the detail (fireplace, swag, stockings, etc) have been layered to give dimension, including the sentiment.

I have enhanced the design with added colour to the flames with Sakura glaze pens, glitter to the greenery with Stickles and my favourite,Glossy Accents mainly to the baubles.

I hope to enter this into the following challenges:
Secret Crafter Saturday - Make a start on Christmas
Totally Gorguss - Christmas in August
Paper Sundae - Christmas in August
Crafty Emma's Store - Anything Goes

Welcome to Baby

One of my projects this week was to make some cards for baby girls. Why? For no particular reason, other than I love this baby image from the Kirsty Wiseman Colour Me Crazy CD and I like to have cards to hand in case someone needs one. I made a few different versions but here is one which I hope to enter into two challenges.

I used 3 papers ( ducks, spot and glitter),2 flowers (not sure if that can be classed as 1) and the 1 image. The sentiment I made on the computer and for added detail I machine stitched two of the papers together.

I wasn't happy with the edge of the paper image so I added a 'frame' with Liquid Pearls but I am not keen on it now and wish I hadn't bothered ! (I'm learning the hard way - lol )

Vintage Style Birthday

Something completely different from my recent posts is this vintage style card in soft blue's and cream's with silver. The colours are subtle in real life and I have struggled to get a good photograph for this post so I hope it shows up well on your computers.

I heat embossed the Tailors Dummy Clarity Stamp twice in silver and decoupaged one image on to the other and then I added a silver/grey ribbon bow. The prepared image was centred into an Anna Griffin frame that I have had for ages just waiting for the right opportunity to be used.It was all mounted onto silver mirri card and placed onto a cream card base .

I hand stitched the button's and made a sample thread tag and finished it with pearl -head pins. To complete the embellishment I added a silver sentiment and of course my favourite butterfly.

I am going to try and enter this into the following challenges:
Craftycatz Butterflies and Buttons
Craftyourdaysaway With Wings
The Secretcraftersaturday Blue and Cream
Craftycreations Butterfly

In The Dog House Mini Album Part Two

Isn't it typical ?? I held back from posting this album because I wanted to enter it in to a challenge but as I couldn't see a suitable challenge to enter it in and more importantly, because I hadn't posted anything for my lovely followers to see for over a week, I decided to show you Henry. Then today,a day later, I see a challenge at Onestopcraftchallenge which would have been perfect for this album !! Do you think I dare enter this project now or is it not allowed ?????

Anyway, for my lovely followers here are more pictures of Henry's album.

I recently finished the In the Dog House Mini Album which I started ages ago at one of Gill's workshops so I wanted to share a few pictures with you. It's about our fabulous dog Henry, who sadly passed away a few years ago. We still miss him.

In The Dog House

I'm not literally in the Dog House - firstly, we haven't got a dog any more and secondly, even when we did we didn't have a dog house !! The thing is I feel as if I am in the dog house!! I haven't posted any craft work for over a week and worse,I haven't actually successfully completed any craft work either. I have several projects on the go - interspersed with other commitments. Just look at the mess of my work areaYou can see (best not to look actually) my latest (poor) attempts at colouring images. The lovely Lindsey has let me have a few images to practice with but I can only apologise for my poor efforts so far ( sorry I couldn't put something together in time for the Craftycatz Challenge this week Lindsey). I definitely need more practice but I definitely need more Promarkers too as I just don't have the right colours to do a good job !! ( can cats be brown ??). Well back to the grindstone.

PS.You might spot a sneak peek of something I will post later which is related to the post title x

Babsie Again

Do you mind if I show you Babsie Flutterfly again ? I did say that I had been practising with my Promarkers and actually I have very few stamps that I can colour in - yet ! SO here is another version of Babsie which I have made for the latest Polka Doodle Challenge which uses a Sketch.

I am getting into this bold palette of colours and I thought it suited the intended recipient of this card - a 12 year old young lady who loves pink !!

The background paper is BasicGrey, the flowers are from stash and I used my Nesties to cut the mirror and glitter card.
I wanted to enter this into the PD AquaMarkers GiveAway but although I have left them a comment I can't work out how to include a link in the comment (and Nikky wants a link or else !!) so probably haven't managed to enter it. Nevermind, I won't win anything anyway with this card.

Promarker Fun

I have been continuing with my quest to colour with Promarkers and although I have called this Post 'Fun' in reality it wasn't all fun but at the same time I enjoyed it, if that makes sense ! I spent hours colouring in the same image which I had stamped several times over and over again. I tried different colour combinations and the result was a few that I thought were reasonable. I found it best to use my watercolour pencils to colour the face and skin areas. The stamp is another Polka Doodles Flutterfly called Babsie. I don't usually go for bold colours but the colours I used for Babsie dictated these complimentary papers.

The papers are BasicGrey lime rickety which I won in a raffle at The Scrapbook Shop ages ago.I used 3 different patterns. The sentiment I made myself on Word and positioned it to look like a flower on a long stem. I have added 3 flower shaped faux brads (1 I have used as the centre of a fabric flower) and I just had to add some MS butterflies.
As I have done all this work I am going to try to enter this card in to a few Challenges :
PD Blog Challenge 30
Cute Card Thursday
Squiggle Stamps August Challenge

Flower Pot Get Well Card

I have been trying out an idea which I first saw quite a while ago and the result is this Flower Pot card.

The tab with the two groups of flowers is pulled out from the inside of the pot and a suitable greeting can be added. Did you spot the butterfly ?
