Snowflakes and Stars

I have been working on another Christmas project and I have finally finished it today,so without further ado here it is :

It is a box .

Oh! No!!! After all my hard work there is a spilt in the side !! Now what should I do ?
I will just have to take it apart and start again (groan !!)

What's this ?

I didn't fool you did I ?? Thought not.

Sorry about that but I'm feeling a little 'high' tonight I am way behind with the things I want to do and I should be doing something completely different at this very moment but I just had to share this with you and try to get it entered into a few challenges before it is too late.

Okay. This is my first attempt at an exploding box. It is not huge as it measures about 3" square on the outside. I used papers from Daisy&Dandelion Christmas paper pack A Winter's Tale onto plain white card. I designed and made the 3d tree to go in the centre and decorated it with red star gems, glitter and Polar White Flower Soft. The tree was then secured to silver Mirri card and placed in the centre as the main focal point. The snowflakes were made using Martha Stewart punches which I layered and finished with either red or crystal gems. The text was cut from a Sizzix die and I chose to use the colour red to compliment the green and white design.

The Challenges I hope to enter are:
1.BAH! Humbug! -challenge 37 - Stars
2.The One Stop Craft Challenge week 99 - Snowflakes in September
3.Totally Gorjuss challenge 49 - Christmas
4.ABC Christmas Challenge - T is for Tree

Kirsty Wisemans Wednesday Night Crop 22.09.10

I thoroughly enjoyed another of Kirsty's Cyber Crop's last night. I haven't as yet logged into the Chat Room during the 2 hour session because I find it more relaxing just to get on with it myself as there is no pressure - if I don't do it then it doesn't matter to anyone except me and anyway, although the chat is hilarious at times I definitely wouldn't get it done in the time, as I can't chat and create at the same time. lol !

Here is the Sketch Kirsty asked us to follow but there were other options.

As usual you can't really prepare in advance because we don't get the sketch until just before the crop begins so I used what I had and at one point I was scrambling about looking in boxes for bits and bobs to complete my LO. Phew !! It was a close call but I got there in the end.

Here is the full sized Layout I made last night.

The lovely photo's are of 2 of my gorgeous grandchildren with their favourite toys :)

Christmas JOY

I am still tuned into Christmas themed creations at the moment and as well as this card, I have a few more ideas I hope to put together in the next few weeks so I hope you will come again and have a look. This time I have gone for a simple design and have used 3 of my Martha Stewart snowflake punches that I have been itching to use.

The double-sided base card is from docrafts Forever Friends - Gift Wrapped and the sentiment/text is made from glittered chipboard letters and a circle text from Craftwork Cards which was attached with foam pads to highlight the text.

I finished the design by adding a few more snowflakes on 3d foam pads to give more dimension to the design and some pearl and crystal gems to the centre of the prominent snowflakes to give 'lift' and sparkle.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges :
1.Allsorts Week 70 - At least 3 punches
2.A spoonful of sugar Challenge 122 - Anything Goes
3.Bah! Humbug! Challenge 36 - TEXT
4.Diecut Dreams Christmas Club challenge 35 - Words Only

Christmas Easel

I have not had a very productive few days and was beginning to get a bit stressed because 'things' were getting in the way of my creative processes. Nothing drastic, just stupid little things. For instance I started making this card on Saturday and I thought everything was going okay until later in the day I noticed that the glue I had used to layer up the tree had seeped through and marked the image !! gurrr !!! It had not happened before so I was not a happy bunny and it has taken me until today to take another look and solve the problem. Was it worth it ? I think so, if for no other reason than I hate waste.

Can you tell what I did to cover up the problem ?
After all this effort I am hoping to enter this into the following challenges :
1.Craftycatz Challenge 50 - Colour Combo - Chocolate and Green
2.SCS Challenge 101 - Anything Goes
3.Polka Doodles Week 37 Challenge - Easel Card

Kirsty Wisemans Wednesday Night Crop

I have been struggling with my scrapbooking mojo for a while, especially since the very talented Debbie stopped doing her workshops at the Scrapbook Shop so I was both excited and apprehensive when I was invited to join the equally talented Kirsty Wiseman's Wednesday Cyber Crop live on ustream.
She gave us a sketch with 3 options and we had 2 hours to make our layout and upload the result.
Although, I accepted the invitation I didn't log into the Chat and I think this helped me to relax. Kirsty encouraged us to do our own thing and I threw my worries away and just grabbed what I had and 'went for it' !!
Here is the result :
Do you recognise the flower ? Yes, it is one of the flowers I won from Kirsty's flower giveaway. I didn't plan to use it but it fitted so well with the colours I used and the sketch we were given - so that was a lucky break for me.
It was difficult taking a photo of the finished LO because the light was so poor, so this morning I have taken a few more although they are not much better. I must rethink how I take my photos.

Have you noticed that I couldn't resist adding butterflies to the lace canopy ?

Pretty Things

I call these my Italian Purses simply because I bought them in Italy. But as far as I know, you might be able to get them any-where in the world.
I bought them from a gorgeous little shop in Montecatini Terme in Tuscany (it's the Town where my sister lives). I was looking for gifts to bring home and ended up buying several, including three for myself (how greedy am I ?)
Pretty Little Bear can't decide which one she likes the best but I am happy to share them with her. lol
(PS. LB is only 5" high).

Mon Amie

I have at last been brave enough to break into a Prima kit I bought ages ago that was intended for scrapbooking but which has lay unused and filed under "One Day". I am not sure about the result but I am on a journey after all, so this is just another step on that journey.

The papers are from the Aurora Collection and I used Heavenly and Majestic Garden which were all chalked around the edges. The flower and ribbon are also Prima. I love the birds on the ribbon and although I think the flower is special I couldn't resist adding glitter to 'lift' it a little.

To complete the design that I had based on a sketch from 2Sketches4You, I added a Waltzing Mouse stamped sentiment, cut with the Spellbinders Fancy Tag die and .... nearly forgot .... I added a pearl to the tag.

I am hoping to enter this card into the following challenges :
1. 2Sketches4You - Laura's Sketch 60
2. Colour Q challenge 49 - Browns and Blues
3. Crafty Calendar 12- September - Blue and optional flower
4.Cowgirl's Sunday challenge - Anything Goes

Tuesday, 7 September 2010

I am not really apologising - it's just the title of my latest cards, so forgive me if I have tricked you in to reading my post. The thing is I have been dreaming and planning this design for over a week and have had days trying to get the design right - I nearly gave up !!
The problem with clean and simple designs is that they are really hard to get right and I admire those crafters who 'get it right' constantly. I am in awe of their work (I will not name names but I follow them).
Anyway, these are the first cards I have made which I think truly come under the heading - Clean and Simple.

I really struggled to get decent photos that show the true colours which are very pale, duck-egg blue and greys. I also resorted to showing both cards together as they are virtually the same with just slightly different shaped flowers.

I used the Shapeabilities Fancy Tag dies to cut and emboss an aperture in the white card and then I stamped the sentiment using one of the lovely Waltzing Mouse fancy phrases stamps on to the cut-out tag which I also embossed.
Around the aperture and the tag I applied a matching blue chalk and to complete the design I added clear gems and a stitched button..
I hope to enter this card design into the following challenges :-
1.SCS Challenge 99 - Clean and Simple
2.My time to craft challenge 106- Jewelled
3.The paper players challenge 14 - Clean and Simple

Thanks a Bunch

First, I do want to say thank-you for the kind words regarding me being 'off-colour' recently. I was touched (really) that people I have never met are so kind and take the time to say a few nice words. You are very kind and this card is dedicated to you.

I have played around with is idea before and liked it a lot so when I re-discovered these fabric flowers that I bought at about a year ago and stashed away because I didn't know what to do with them, I immediately thought of this design idea again.

The flower pot and tag are made from Bazzill card and decorated with a Martha Stewart border punch. The flowers are Petaloo and they have lovely little beads in the centre. I punched the leaves with an Xcut Botanical embossing punch and finished the design with a polk-dot ribbon and my usual favourite sentiment.

I am hoping to enter this card into the following challenges :-
1.Polka Doodles Week 35- Shaped card
2.OSCC Challenge 96 - Photo Inspiration (Colour)
3.Creative Inspirations Challenge 42 - Anything but square or rectangle

Another baby card.

Can you forgive me for posting another baby card ? and from the same papers ?? I hope so as I love these papers and images and I just couldn't resist.Plus I haven't posted for a little while because I have been 'off colour' and a bit distracted, not able to turn my mind to one thing in particular. Anyway, here is the card :This time I have used the cute pram design and for the first time I have tried these gorgeous flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts in pinks and lemon to compliment the papers. The image is mounted on to glitter card and cut with a nestie.

On the base of the easel I have layered glitter card cut with a Martha Stewart punch and topped it with some lovely cotton cream lace I purchased from Polka Doodles recently. Another new purchase is the Fancy Tag die from Spellbinders which I used on the glitter card and to finish it all off the sentiment is from Craft work cards. I hope you like the end result and I am hoping to enter it into the following Challenges :-
1.Allsorts Week 68 - New Beginnings
2.CES Challenge 2 - Floral Frenzy
3.Cute Card Thursday Challenge 128 - Material Girl
4.Fab'n'Funky Challenge 38 - Living in a material world.
5.Craft Your Days Away Challenge 3 - Girly'n'Glitter
