Christmas in July

I don't usually make Christmas cards in the summer months but as I have recently bought Polka Doodles new Paper Boutique Vol. II Cd. I have been blown away by Nikky's designs and couldn't resist any longer. The problem was which one to choose as they are all brilliant ! In the end I went with this Wreath design and made a large 8"x 8" card but I am already planning to make an even larger version as an actual wreath to hang at Christmas.
I have kept the background plain because I think the wreath has all the detail and dimension the card needs although I have added Glossy Accents to some of the berries.

Thank-You for your comments on stamping and colouring in .

Thank-you to the lovely peeps for your advice and encouragement - it does mean a lot to me.I think I have been using suitable paper and ink, although I do think it is a mine-field for novices like me. I was actually more concerned with the colouring in. First of all I think the images were a little small and fiddly for me (poor eye-sight not poor stamps) and that is why the pencils seemed easier. Also the Promarker colours I have seemed a bit harsh as I lean towards more subtle colours ( I might dispel that if I am brave enough to post the other images I coloured). The other thing about me is that I have an eclectic interest in all things crafty and I want to try everything - maybe I should decide to concentrate on one or two crafting techniques ............. but not yet as there is so much I get excited about and want to try !
Love and hugs xxx

Stamping and colouring in.

I haven't posted anything for over a week because I have been trying to stamp and colour in. I do have stamps and inks but mostly I have used them in scrapbooking and back-grounds and some sentiments. I have never coloured them in before. Anyway,I was tempted with the Polka Doodle Fairy Flutterfly designs, bought two and thought I would have a go. I found out quickly that it might not be 'my thing'. Absolutely nothing to do with the stamps (I love PD - Nikky is so talented) but I struggled. I tried Promarkers,Copic (I have a few) and then got better results with Watercolour Pencils ( in the end I used all 3 ). I nearly gave up but persevered. I am not thrilled with my final effort but here it is anyway. I know I have a lot more to learn and that is what my Blog is about - My Crafty Journey. PS. Hope my followers stick with me xxx

Butterfly Bliss

I am definitely into Butterflies at the moment and I couldn't resist this specimen from the House of 3 so I made another of my favourite easel cards.

The close-up shows the floral decoration and sentiment.

The papers are from BasicGrey Porcelain paper pad again (I wish I had more) and the flowers are from stash.

Just Because Butterfly Card

I bought the Martha Stewart Royal Butterfly punch yesterday at the Scrapbook Shop and just had to do something with it straight away. I came up with this card and I can see that the idea lends itself to so many variations.

I love the 3 D effect. The card is Bazzill and I cut the small squares with Nesties. The sentiment is from Personal Impressions and I cut the butterflies from one of Polka Doodles backing papers.
